Beautiful Firetail

Beautiful Firetail (Image ID 40427)
CommentThe Lighthouse Keeper at Cape Borda on Kangaroo Island would fill this old pot with water everyday and everyday a flock of Beautiful Firetails would come down to drink. Hence I have plenty of close-up portraits of this exquisite bird. However the contrast between the rustic old and the stunning plumage really appealed to me with this particular image. Now, 12 months later, this whole area has been devastated by fires and the fate of this particular subspecies is under yet more pressure.
