Red-browed Finch

Red-browed Finch (Image ID 40424)
CommentThis was one of a very small flock that was benefiting from introduced fog grass growing on the margins of an artificial water body. It was captured at the height of the Drought and this species was demonstrating adaptability by finding new food sources.
When capturing the image I was trying to capture 'typical' stances of this species in order to provide an image that was 'fresh' in the context of this competition. When I started the post processing, I realized that the upper and lower bills in this image did not fit neatly. What was probably happening was that the bird was manipulating its beak in order to work a seed out of its husk.

A section of a grass stem has been cloned out.
