CommentHouse Sparrows are so ubiquitous in our built environment, wherever crumbs from cafes or picnic spots are to be found and pecked up, that it can be something of a surprise to find them a more natural environment. This quite beautiful female sparrow was part of a large group that has made its home in the bushy parts of the Royal Park Wetlands, alongside other small birds like Blue Wrens, Pardalotes, and New Holland Honeyeaters. Sparrows may be classified as “Passer Domesticus” but this particular clan seems to indicate that Sparrows Domesticus have not entirely forgotten how to make their way in more natural environments.
