Zebra Finch

Zebra Finch (Image ID 40349)
Resolution1350x1800
ID40349
CommentI selected this image for the competition as it demonstrates the bonding behaviour of a pair of finches. Zebra Finches pair bond for life and this bonding can be characterized by close contact, and allopreening. The relationship between this pair is certainly demonstrated in this image. The female has hold of the male’s leg - she’s not going to let him get away! Another feature of this image is that there is good eye contact with the male bird, an important part of wildlife photography. From a technical point of view the image is sharp, the background is without distractions and the lighting is soft.
