Double-barred Finch

Double-barred Finch (Image ID 40279)
CommentI entered this photo as I like the position of the bird on the grass from which it is feeding, as well as the engagement between myself and the bird. It is presenting a pleasing pose and is shown in a typical feeding position. I could have cropped closer, however I felt that that would have diminished the effect I was wanting to convey, which is the bird feeding in a typical pose. The lighting wasn't ideal and I struggled a little with the highlights and shadows in order to portray the typical colours within the birds feathers. The background has a few dark seed heads showing, however this comes with the environment where the finch feeds. Overall I think it is a pleasing result.
