Star Finch

Star Finch (Image ID 40229)
CommentThe waterhole had attracted many finches and honeyeaters but unfortunately the setting sun was in my face and I couldn't get around to the other side for what would be an uncluttered, clean background of the dry grass plains. I knew given its location the early morning sun would present the best light from the opposite side and illuminate the birds and background that I wanted.
Mixed flocks of finches & honeyeaters came down to drink just as the sun came up, with the lens nice and wide with the good light and a good background I was happy to use a fast shutter speed for a sharp shot due to being handheld. This Star Finch perched briefly and I was fortunate to get a few shots off before she was gone, quite a memorable experience!
