CommentIt was high tide at the time of the photo, and this large flock of Sharp-tailed Sandpipers were forced to huddle together, no doubt a small temporary inconvenience after their heroic journeys from their breeding grounds in Arctic Siberia to the southern shores of Australia. {Moderator's note: also plenty of Red-necked Stint in this image and possibly Curlew Sandpiper.
