Pacific Black Duck

Pacific Black Duck (Image ID 39314)
Photographed byCon Boekel on Fri 27th Dec, 2019 and uploaded on Mon 24th Feb, 2020 .
CommentI chose this image because it best illustrates the major environmental events of 2019. This image was captured during the height of the bush fires. It is well after dawn but the sun is struggling to shine through the thick, toxic smoke. The diamonds in the bird's wake, the sunbursts. and the glow lights contrast with the wavy black lines of the wave shadows. (Note to moderator. I have other images of the same bird and arcing up the light confirms the species ID.)
