Lovely Fairy-wren

Lovely Fairy-wren (Image ID 37793)
Photographed byGeoffrey Smith on Wed 22nd Jun, 2016 and uploaded on Tue 24th Dec, 2019 .
CommentThe male is very similar to that of a Variegated Fairy-wren and in fact was once identified as a separate Race of the Variegated Fairy-wren until being split and is now recognised as a full species in its own right. The blue of the Lovely Fairy-wren is ligher than that of the Variegated species. As with the female those found at the northern end of their range are thought to be slightly darker in colour.
