CommentRe-submitting this image, I have tried to put to use all most welcome comments and suggestions from moderators and helpers. I have gone for a more natural look with less saturation, less texture and a slightly smaller crop, and I tried to mach the colours to those in my Slater’s Field guide. My workflow was as follows: QuickNEF file adjustment in Adobe Photoshop CC Camera RAW 2019, then opening in Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 and firstly setting black and white points in Levels layer. I also tried setting the black and white points in Curves, but this did not render as good a result. I then went back to the Camera RAW filter and did a noise reduction in the background layer. Hereafter I worked my way through all layers, playing with on/off, until I hit the result that I deemed the better one. Then I put the background layer through noise control in Topaz Studio, incorporating a ‘smoothing’ effect. Back to Adobe Photoshop CC and still in the background layer, I did some dodging and burning and sharpened selected parts of both birds, followed by the crop. Thin I did final correction in Layers, but these were minute. I saved to PSD, downsized to requirements and then saved a JPG copy. I leave my first effort with this image up next to the new one for comparison.
