CommentBOZ_8982 aka BOZ_8981 Crested Tern Following critique in this gallery, I decided to give the image here a complete re-work, incorporating what I learned from BirdLife Moderators. My son Marcus took the time to show me in Adobe Camera Raw that the tern indeed did have some details in it that could be enhanced: Working the image entirely in Photoshop CC using layers to the best of my ability and under supervision, I brought up much better details in all of the whites of the bird, using only the 4 main tools: ‘Exposure’, Brightness & Contrast’, ‘Levels’ and ‘Curves, toggling between these for the best result. After that I drew back on ‘Vibrance’ to quench the pastel colours and the saturation. I then did a PSD copy, and here I cropped and adjusted catch-light in the eye, sharpened a bit followed by down-sizing, all in Photoshop CC 2020 (we pay for the cloud version). Then I went to Topaz AI Sharpen and from here to Topaz Noise Control Pro. I then went back to Photoshop CC for fine tuning, as my son explained the image was now ‘squeezed’, and that I had to accept the best compromise between details in the white and the white going grey. This is the result, and I find myself that there is a noticeable improvement of details in the white, but perfect it will never be, as the image was quite overexposed in camera. Hopefully, other folks may learn from my struggles also. I leave both images up for now for comparison and further critique. All comments are appreciated, thank you Jim Schultz
