CommentWe thank BLP member Bill Betts for recommending a visit to Kirkalocka Station where our hosts Jarrod and Blair gave us excellent birding advice. We found a family of Western Q-t with a pair of adult birds catching insects to feed two juveniles. The female (shown here) has essentially the same plumage as the Chestnut Q-t of eastern Australia. Western Q-t is recognized as a separate species by IOC and most other authorities.
EquipmentCanon 1Dx II + 600 mm f/4 III + 1.4x III extender, hand-held. Manual, partial metering, AI Servo spot AF, f/5.6, 1/800 sec, ISO 1600. Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
