CommentSpotted Pardalotes normally nest in a burrow in an earth bank. This Spring in the Australian National Botanic Gardens a pair have chosen to establish a nest in a tree hollow as the Striated Pardalotes do. I am told while this is unusual but has been seen before - although not commonly. Could it be that it is so dry they have trouble burrowing in the hard earth?
