Black-necked Stork

Black-necked Stork (Image ID 36535)
CommentNot one but two pairs of large wetland birds, at Kinka Wetlands in Central Queensland. I was fortunate to capture a pair of Brolga and a pair Black-necked Stork in the same photo. The distance between the couples feels as though it represents the difference in taxonomy with the birds being from different orders. I love how the eye colour of the Black-necked Stork indicates the difference in the species, with the female having a brilliant yellow eye. While the storks were standing close and still, the brolga were jumping around and displaying.
