Common Starling

Common Starling (Image ID 36097)
CommentUp before dawn... This was part of a large flock of Common Starling that roosted in the rushes at Kelly's Swamp. Parts of the flock are breaking from the flock to land in order to begin feeding for the day, giving a somewhat chaotic appearance. The faint tinge of mauve comes from pre-dawn tints reflected off some clouds. The small aperture and high ISO were forced by the very dull light conditions.
