House Sparrow

House Sparrow (Image ID 35781)
CommentThe soft ambient light combined with the close proximity and the bold stance of this sparrow made for perfect conditions to take his photo. I am pleased with the accuracy of the colour portrayal (including the magenta tinting on his beak) and the level of detail in his plumage. I initially cropped this photo as a 3:4 ratio portrait image but later decided I preferred the scrolled patterns of the bark peeling off from the small branch that the landscape crop allows.
