CommentAmazed at how birds can perch in amongst the barbed wire. Focusing on a small bird at a distance with no background is difficult, especially if the automtic mode is used as the camera can hunt trying to find the focus point. Using manual focus or spot centered focus help with this. Even small movement will miss the focus point so keeping the camera steady or using a tripod is helpful, unless you have a very active bird such as a swallow which seldom sits still for long.
We were visiting Norfolk Island and took a picture of every bird we could see to look for differences if any between here and the mainland. I like this picture with the bird and barbed wire fence in focus in the middle of the image and fading out into the distance. The blurred background allows you to focus your view on the bird.
