CommentWhen a flock of Galahs calls continuously and follows an erratic course there is a very good chance that the flock is being harried by a predator. It is always well worth checking every individual to see what is really happening.

In this case the Black-shouldered Kite flew above, below, behind, among, and even in front of the flock of Galahs for several minutes.

Flocks of Galahs usually have wing positions at all phases which can make the flock look 'untidy'. However, when the flock makes a sharp turn - as it is doing here, the wing position across the flock can look highly coordinated, maximizing the chance for a pleasing image.

There many be an added advantage in this case - the Galahs were nearly at right angles to the direction of light, minimizing the impact of shadows.
