Brown Goshawk

Brown Goshawk (Image ID 34290)
CommentAs I sat by a water hole along the dry Edith River a pair of Brown Goshawks flew in and perched in a tree just across from where I had set up. They mated soon after and then for quite a while they flew in and around me as if I wasn't there. After 3 hours of waiting for finches to come in to drink, which probably wasn't going to happen with my Goshawks keeping watch, I decided to shift my little posy across to the other side of the water hole and back into some shade to escape the 40 degree temperature. I set up under the Pandanus palms that were overhanging the dry river bed in a nice bit of shade and cover from any finches coming in to drink. After about 10 minutes the female goshawk flew down and perched under the next Pandanus palm, great minds think alike.
