Mute Swan

Mute Swan (Image ID 34089)
CommentMute Swan. There is a small, self sustaining, "wild" population of these swans on the Avon River in WA. They are recognised as a naturalised Australian species. They have been in this area for over 100 years. Their gene pool was boosted by additional introduced birds a number of years ago. The river was quite stained on the day I took this photo, hence the brown marks on the bird's neck and head.
