CommentI would rate this as an iconic species in the Kingscliff district.
The artificial nest mentioned in the sign is in full few of many tens of thousands of people a year - as are the birds themselves.
IMO this is an effective management sign because the changed behaviour being sought clear and is linked to the reward of having the species survive. The pic adds some nice drama. It is good to see the photographer rewarded with a good acknowledgement.
From a creative point of view, the issues arising from taking an image of an image are interesting! For one thing, I have made a decision to make no post processing attempts to 'improve' the bird part of the image.
