Striated Heron

Striated Heron
CommentI was chatting to some local bird photography enthusiasts at the Chinese and Japanese Gardens in Singapore when this Striated Heron, with catch, flew right past us. This local subspecies (javanicus) is widespread in Singapore. The Australian Bird Guide (Menkhorst el al) states that “vagrants with strong white moustachial and malar stripes recorded on Christmas I are probably se Asian ssp javanicus.”
