I have just read the email from our president ( re competition submissions) and I wholeheartedly agree with him . Having been a moderator in the past I know how frustrating it can be when submissions do not meet requirements. Taking the photo is the easy part, but when it comes to the comments ,I don't know about others, but I am usually stuck for words. However I think I am getting a little better at it. I would like to share with members how I now go about writing my comments. Firstly I open "Word" and create a new blank document. Then I open up the image that I intend to submit in the competition .They sit side by side. Now I look at the image and ask myself " why am I submitting this entry". I then write my comments in the word document and then save it. Then ,when I then submit my photo on the website I just copy and paste my comments from my word document. Easy !!
Maybe this is not something new to members, but it might help someone struggling with the comments field.

Brilliant! You are way ahead of me Mary. I write out my comments long-hand on a scrap of paper - there are usually a lot of crossed out words and edits squeezed in before I am happy. My main objective is usually to write something that will enhance the viewer's experience which might be technical, ornithological, aesthetic or emotional in nature.

Sounds familiar Ian. It is so much quicker to edit a word document than to rewrite a handwritten document.
