Hi all, I have always had a love of the natural world and been drawn into Birding / photography approximately 2 yrs . I purchased my D S L R and 400mm prime lens and have not looked back , the Splendid Wren led me into some wonderfull county and every bush walk led to a new discovery of subject . I am self taught with experimentation and Arthur Morris ( and others ) on you tube to enlighten my mind , I hope to stretch my gear as it is to be worthy of this marvellous group .
I don't think I have been fully assessed as yet I have tried to make email contact but no response for several weeks So if a moderator ect could let me know if this is normal or admin is away I would appreciate it . I am on instagram @https://www.instagram.com/joe_seppe_russell/ Thanks again looking forward to share my captures .

Hi Joseph and welcome to BLP. It's great to see you've also been 'bitten by the bug'. Bird photography can be a lot of fun and very satisfying, at least that's been my experience. Also, great you have been actively working to develop your photography and I hope BLP can further help. One of our goals is educating and helping to create better bird photography. Aside from the material in our newsletters, there is this forum and the Critique Gallery which are specifically designed to provide feedback and responses to questions.

There is also direct contact with other members (through the 'Contact Photographer' button on posted images where a photographer has remembered to turn this feature on) and the committee email contacts as well as events such as our biennial conference. In that regard, you indicate you have not had a response for several weeks from us but I'm not sure what you have sent or who you have contacted. We do have some key committee members away traveling at the moment. Maybe that is the reason. Either way, apologies for that but we are an organisation run and operated by unpaid volunteers so things like this can sometimes happen in spite of our best intentions. If you want to email me (my email can be found under 'About Us: People' on our website), I may be able to give you a response to whatever you have sent.

Hi Joseph. Rob Parker is one of the people away. I don't know what email address you used for 'birdlifephotography' so can't comment further on that one. If you forward this email to me I can look into it. You can find my email address under About Us: Our people on our website.

Hello Joseph,
Welcome to BLP. Please don't be put off by a bumpy landing here at BLP. The President and web administrator are on well-earned breaks and Glenn is wearing multiple hats while they are away. I feel sure you will soon be posting images and I look forward to seeing some of your work. It is usually a good idea to post a few images to the Critique Gallery to get off to a good start; this is not only a benefit to the photographer but lots of members pick up tips and ideas from reading the critiques. This Forum is also a good place to ask questions and to learn from the experiences of others. I also encourage you to enter our competitions as these can be a positive learning experiences. If you are able to attend our biennial national bird photography conference (Perth, 2019), then that would be a great benefit providing an opportunity to meet some of Australia's best bird photographers to learn about basic techniques and new ideas.
Cheers, Ian
