Please can someone tell me the size required for the front page banner photo? Is there anything else I have to do besides have my photo the right size? Is there somewhere else I have to upload to? Or this is a special invite thing? thanks..

Hi Annette,
As William stated, the size required is 1400 x 450 px and you can submit the image by selecting the 'slides' option in the same drop-down menu you would use for the submission of an image to the New Images gallery or a competition. The image you submit will be checked by a moderator to make sure the ID is correct and that the image quality is OK.

... and a little more detail (taken from the gallery description, which appears when you select the gallery in the Submit Photo page), to augment what Woody and Ian have already supplied:
"Please note that the selection criteria for images to be used for this purpose will be strict, in terms of both image quality and composition. Images must have a background which will allow the title and photographer (white text, in the upper-left corner) to be visible; backgrounds should also not be overly dark. Images must not have any ‘frame’ around them, and must not contain any copyright (or other) watermark."
