BirdLife Photography
Australian Birds

BirdLife Photography is a Special Interest Group of BirdLife Australia and provides both a forum and resources for photographers, bird observers and the general public to enhance their knowledge and appreciation of birds through the medium of photography.

It was formed in 2008, as PhotoBOCA, with the initial membership coming from the existing photography groups of Bird Observation & Conservation Australia (BOCA) in Melbourne, Bellarine Peninsula, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville.  With the merge of BOCA and Birds Australia to form BirdLife Australia in January 2012, it became BirdLife Photography.  Our focus is to provide educational activities via the internet, with an emphasis on photography and bird identification.

Membership

Membership of BirdLife Photography is open to anyone interested in photographing Australian birds.  We only provide individual memberships (ie. no family memberships), as this allows us to identify the actual person who contributes to our website, by submitting images to our galleries, participating in competitions or ID challenges, or joining the discusssions in our Forum.  Our membership fee is currently $15 per annum.  Membership allows you to submit photos to our online gallery, participate in our photo competitions and Bird Identification Challenges, submit posts to our online Forum, and access our latest newsletters (non-members can only access newsletters more than two years old); you may also join and contribute to our private Facebook group.

So - why not join BirdLife Photography, enjoy the benefits of membership, help spread the word of the pleasures of birdwatching and photography, and make your contribution to the preservation of the uniqueness of Australian birdlife for generations to come.  Just download the application form, fill it in and send to BirdLife Australia.  Alternatively, phone BirdLife Australia Supporter Services on 1300 730 075.  Please provide an email address when you join, as all our communication with our members is via email; if you do not have an email address, you will need to check this website regularly to keep informed of our activities, such as photo competitions, ID challenges, and newsletters.

Please note that joining BirdLife Photography does not provide membership of any of the Branch Photography Groups.  If you wish to join them also, to participate in local activities in your area, please contact them directly.  You can find details of local photography groups on the About Us - Branch Photography Groups page.
