This species was misidentified as Broad-billed Sandpiper x1

The Curlew Sandpiper is distinguishable from the Broad-billed Sandpiper by the beak. The Curlew Sandpiper has a long, down-curved beak, whereas the Broad-billed Sandpiper has a relatively straight beak that downturns near the tip.

Some other identifying features for the Curlew Sandpiper are:

- Long black legs

- Wings extend past tail tip when closed

- White supercilium

- Dark loral stripe
