CommentOne of many different bird species I saw waiting to drink from a small waterhole near Wyndham. From reading descriptions in ‘The Australian Bird Guide’ and referencing a separate photo of this same bird which shows slight pale scalloping lead me to think it is an immature bird. However, the description of the casque and accompanying illustrations (page 409) lead me to second guess it could be an adult – or perhaps somewhere in between. Happy to take advice.
EquipmentCanon 7D Mark II with Canon 600mm f4/L USM non IS lens at 600mm, 1/800sec, f7.1, ISO 320 on tripod. Processed using DPP4 and Photoshop 2015.5 with Neat Image plug-in referencing Ian Wilson's and Glenn Pure's notes.
