Little Kingfisher

Little Kingfisher
CommentThis is probably our bluest bird in Australia and such a tiny gem I think this is an ideal entry to the competition. The photo seems to convey well its small size as well as the brilliant blues. That the kingfisher is sitting on a grass blade helps convey the size. I watched the bird hunting in the shallow waters of Hasties Swamp from within the bird hide. After it caught and ate two tiny fish it retreated to this perch, in good cover, for a rest.
