White-faced Heron

White-faced Heron
CommentI entered this photo as I am often impressed by just how still water can be in a rock pool - but I was amazed at how still and for how long this White-necked Heron could be while searching for an early morning breakfast as it made its way around scattered rock pools along the sandy riverbanks of a section of the Fergusson River north of Katherine. The absolute stillness of both the water and the bird provided a reflection opportunity I couldn’t resist.
