CommentThe Cairns Esplanade runs on the northern end into mangroves on the right and a mown area on the left. Mangrove Robins were perching in the fringing vegetation and swooping down to feed in the mown areas. The pleasure in this image is that I set out to capture images of Mangrove Robins and there they were. Given the dappled/dark conditions and the generally tangled nature of their perches, getting a clean image is a challenge. What was particularly pleasing here is capturing some eye colour. Note: the midges in this location were fearsome.
